There are many other uses for these bags than just cooking in them. Because they are nylon, they are very air tight. That means you can store many food items in them and they do are not porous, like ziplock bags are. They obviously store more than a gallon ziplock bag because they are much bigger (you can pack about 2x as much as the gal ziplock bags and still have room to twist the bag and tie a tight knot in it for storage). They do not emit odors because they are air tight. When I was looking for these after buying them expensively 2 at a time in a local store, I could see there are a few different sizes - this is the biggest size I found which is why I bought them - more uses. It is hugely economical to buy them 25 at a time and once you try them, you will find many other ways than cooking a turkey to use them. I put fruit, vege's or meat into one of these, twist and tie a knot and store in the freezer now - I would never use ziplock freezer bags again because they are porous and let in air which ruins anything frozen more than a few days.
